Macro ring lite MR-14EX

The Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX is a specialty macro flash light that provides flash illumination for macro photography. This model is a traditional macro ring light (as shown in figure 8-17). Its ring contains two lights, but you cannot separate them from the ring configuration. The device consists of a controller unit that attaches to your camera’s hot shoe, which is where you install the batteries and use its LCD panel to set the flash functions. It offers seven custom functions for adjusting various flash features and settings. In spite of the two lights being permanently attached to the ring configuration, it is possible to fire the flashes together or independently and vary their power settings separately at six different levels.

The Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX also features a modeling flash setting that allows you to preview how your subject will be illuminated before you actually fire the flash, and there are two smaller incandescent focusing lamps to help ensure you focus perfectly on close-up subjects. If you need additional light sources, this light can also act as a master, utilizing the Wireless Autoflash system to fire the 580EX II, 430EX, or other older flashes such as the 550EX or 580EX as slave units.
